Fall means apples everywhere! Apple cider, apple sauce, fresh apple slices!
Kids love apples, but often turn their noses up at brown apple slices. Do a simple experiment in your kitchen with your kids to try to keep fresh apples slices from turning brown.
What you need:
A fresh apple
Lemon juice
Water
Sugar
What you do:
Slice the apple into at least six slices.
Put one slice in the fridge and one on the counter top.
Sprinkle lemon juice on two slices and place one in the fridge and one on the counter.
Sprinkle sugar on two more slices and place one in the fridge and one on the counter.
Check the slices every couple of minutes to see if which ones turn brown first and which ones stay crisp and white.
Remember which one works and use it the next time you pack apple slices for lunch.
