Word games and activities are terrific ways to engage your early reader in a new way. For my sons, it often brought out the competitive instinct, which helped keep them engaged!

www.vocabulary.com – Separated into 3 levels of difficulty, interactive vocabulary puzzle and activity lessons help unlock word meanings. Appropriate for 9+ years.
http://pbskids.org/ – For young kids, there are over 50 games that let them create words, rhyme words, and score points!
